Paros, Delos and Mykonos

We left Athens and went to visit the island of Paros. We stayed in the 'popular' town of Naoussa, which apparently doesn't pick up until June. We didn't lack in fun though. We spent a day riding around the island on some awesome fourwheelers, checking out all the beaches and then we spent a day touring Delos and Mykonos. Here are the pictures...

PAROS

As said, we took a day cruise to the islands of Delos and Mykonos. The winds were high...very high and the waves were massive. The boat was small and the vomit was plentiful. We did well on the deck, holding on despite the water splashing over the side, but once I went inside to sit down I realized we were some of the few who remained without a vomit bag against their faces. A fair number of passengers did not hold their breakfast...so much so that the crew spent most of their time replenishing the passengers with bags. Many got off at the first port and took a much larger ferry back. We stayed and had a great day. Here are the pics...

DELOS

Delos is a sacred island. It is apparently the birth place of Apollo and Artemis (not Delphi as we thought) and was one of the most important places in the world at one time. It was seen as the birth place of god and was a popular island. No one was allowed to be born or die on this island, and so the island remained a belonging of the gods and no one else. It is actually the highest mountains of a sunken continent, but now its just one big archeological site.

MYKONOS

One of the most famous of the Cycladic islands. Mykonos is supposedly 'glitzy'. It was cute, but after 3 hours we'd had enough of the cute shops and we were ready to get back to Paros.
